12. Numeracy
Numeracy is the ability to understand and work with numbers. To put numeracy into perspective, we can look at how the MLB look at player's statistics to decide who to give awards to at the end of the season.
At the end of all MLB seasons awards are given out to the best players for each category. These sats include batting averages, homeruns, runs batted in, hits, and stolen bases.
For example, Corbin Caroll won the National League Rookie of the Year Award. His statistics were 25 homeruns, 161 hits, 76 rbi, and 57 walks. These stats were good enough to beat out all the other rookies for the award.
It is very important to keep track of the numbers and statistics in the MLB. This is just one way to show you how important numeracy is when it comes to keeping track of the statistics of each player.
